ABOUT VIREO
VIREO School of Performing Arts Ltd, established in 2015, is a full service dance studio located in the heart of downtown Courtenay. VIREO is known for our unique environment, for our knowledgeable and invested instructors, and for the excellent quality dance education we provide. VIREO offers all styles of dance including Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Progressing Ballet Technique, Progressing Contemporary Technique, Musical Theatre, Acro/Tumbling, Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and more. We are proud to offer programs to dancers of all ages and abilities, from 3 years old to adult, as well as an award-winning competitive Company program. Our staff are trained and/or certified in the following world-renowned syllabus programs: Acrobatic Arts, Acro Dance Teacher’s Association (ADTA), Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), Progressing Contemporary Technique (PCT), Alixia Flexibility, Gilbert Tap, Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Shumka Dance Syllabus Academy (SDSA), and more.
Under the Artistic Direction of Haley Toal, VIREO is a very special studio well known for our dedication to creating an educational and positive environment for each student. Each dancer should be of the utmost importance regardless of how many classes they take. Each family and student is special to us, and our instructors work hard to get to know each student's needs to help them succeed. We meet dancers where they are at and help them THRIVE!
While always promoting nurturing instruction, we firmly believe in helping dancers develop valuable life skills such as: accountability, discipline, work ethic, inclusivity, initiative, and commitment. Because of this balance, we have seen tremendous growth in our students' technique, training, and performance quality in a short amount of time. But most importantly, we have watched young dancers develop the courage to dance on stage, and gain the confidence and belief in themselves to express who they are through dance and in life. We have had the pleasure and honour of watching our students become exceptional people who practice kindness, humility, and accountability in the studio and out. Alumni from years past often return to the studio throughout the dance year to teach or guest teach, to say hello, to check in and see how our younger dancers have grown, and they always stay in touch. That is proof that what we do at VIREO creates a love of dance and a special community to last a lifetime.
This year, in our 2024/25 dance season, VIREO is celebrating 10 years of dance excellence! You and/or your child will receive excellent training while you are here, but you will also gain unforgettable memories, a support network of instructors who are invested in you, and a dance family forever.
